Selected Publications (SP) is designed to list selected books available from Project Gutenberg. The aim is to increase the number of books listed here and to provide links to them. All titles will be in the public domain in the United States of America and most countries observing a 70 year after death of author copyright term, however, if downloading the books please check your local copyright laws to ensure they are in the public domain where you live.

Preparing the books

A hard copy of a public domain book is scanned and images and text files produced. The text is then carefully checked against the images to correct any errors made during the scanning process. Care is taken to preserve the text as it appears in the original publication. Once all the pages have been checked, they are compiled into one file and further checks made to ensure the text is true to the original. Printer errors might be retained as published, or changed to what appears to be correct—those changes are noted at the end of the file.

Both text and html files are produced, and their ability to be converted to epub and mobi formats checked.
